Norfolk Arthritis Register is a large community based, long term observational study investigating the cause and outcome of inflammatory polyarthritis. Founded in 1989.
Norfolk Arthritis Register (NOAR)
The Norfolk Arthritis Register (NOAR) is a register of people who have developed different types of Inflammatory Polyarthritis (including rheumatoid arthritis) and who are willing to take part in clinical research to learn more about these conditions. This study was the world’s first true primary care based inception cohort study of new onset cases of inflammatory polyarthritis. The study commenced recruitment in 1989 and has recruited over 4000 incident cases. Now in its 30th year, NOAR continues to recruit and follow up people who develop Inflammatory Polyarthritis (IP).
The study is being funded by a programme grant from the Versus Arthritis. In 2013, the Versus Arthritis Centre of Excellence in Epidemiology was jointly awarded to Manchester University and UEA, recognising the strengths and potential for musculoskeletal epidemiology research across the two institutions.
