We wanted to say thank you to our UEA School of Health Sciences students for everything you’ve done for us during lockdown. However we thought UEA graduate and Norfolk and Norwich Hospital A&E nurse, @PiersThePoet, would put it much better than we could, so here he is putting his gratitude into verse…
FUNDING FOR NEW STUDENTS
The government will be providing a non-repayable payment of £5,000 to eligible healthcare students, for each academic year who start their course from September 2020.

We are a passionate and vibrant community of staff and students with a shared desire to improve lives in an ever-changing health environment.
We provide a stimulating and supportive learning environment, covering an extensive portfolio of accredited courses from undergraduate, postgraduate, apprenticeships and continuing professional development, spanning nursing, midwifery, operating department practice, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy and paramedic science. We are 14th in the Complete University Guide University League Table 2019, whilst our Physiotherapy provision is ranked 4th in the UK, and our Nursing and midwifery provision is 5th in the Complete University Guide Subject Tables 2019.
Our high quality innovative teaching is supported by our close working relationships with our clinical partners and placement providers ensuring learning is current, stimulating and enables students to learn in health care settings with the latest technologies.
Students will benefit from hands on multi-sensory simulation exercises in our immersive classroom, discover how to operate mobility aids and therapy equipment in our Norwich Electronic Assistive Technology Centre – our unique interactive ‘domestic bungalow’ dedicated to assistive technology.
Our courses are informed by our world-class research which is focused on addressing the global health challenges of the 21st century. The UK 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) rated 91% of our research in Nursing and Allied Health professions as internationally excellent or world leading.
We are an approved provider of the End Point Assessment (EPA) for the following programmes:
- Registered Nurse – Degree (NMC 2010) Apprenticeship Standard ST0293/AP01. We cater for all four fields of Nursing, Adult, Children’s, Learning Disability and Mental Health
- Nurse Associate (NMC 2018) Standard ST0827
